Making Products to Make a Difference.

PFV Innovations is a small, family-owned company based in Tallahassee, Florida. Flip Pick is made by REAL people hoping to make an impact by bringing something new to the world. Jamie and Tim Roufa have been married for more than 26 years. Together, they make up PFV Innovations and are the inventors of The Original Flip Pick.

Tim has been playing guitar for nearly 40 years. He is a retired law enforcement executive with expertise in program implementation and project management.
Jamie is a three-time author and the operations director for a national non-profit organization. Together, they've poured their years of experience and knowledge into starting and running their family business.

The idea for Flip Pick came to Tim in mid 2022 as he was playing guitar by himself in his home office. The song was "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica (Tim's favorite band of ALL TIME!). If you don't know the song, it consists largely of single-note picked chords until it explodes with heavy power chords and an emotive solo at the bridge, then back to picked notes.
It occurred to Tim at the time that "Nothing Else Matters" - and by extension, a host of other songs - would be much more accessible to hobbyists and gigging guitarists alike if there was a quick way to switch from finger style to strumming. He searched the internet for a pick that would do just that, but couldn't find anything that fit what he had in mind. So he decided to make one.
Armed with a 3D printer and an idea, he set about iterating designs until he came up with a prototype he liked. He showed Jamie what he was working on and, once he explained the idea behind it, she agreed it was worth pursuing. So together, they worked to begin the patent process and finalize Flip Pick.

As Tim continued to play with the prototypes, he recognized that Flip Pick was more than just a way to swap styles. It also let him loosen his grip as he played, and he could play faster and longer. Where he once might have experienced hand cramps there were none. When he may have once flung a pick across the room while playing, or dropped one in the sound hole, no more! And, he found he could play more expressively. With the freedom to swap from finger picking to strumming, he was able to unlock new arrangements of classic songs he loved.

It took 3 full years of design, prototyping, and research to finalize Flip Pick because Jamie and Tim wanted to ensure it was a good as it possibly could be. Iteration after iteration, they refused to compromise on functionality, comfort, utility, or aesthetics. Everything had to be perfect.

With the design perfected and manufacturing partners secured, Flip Pick is now a reality!
What started as a simple dream to be able to spend more time with each other by working together and creating something to pass on to their children has grown into a passion for creativity and developing products to solve every-day problems.
