About Us
We are a family-first business, proudly owned and operated in Tallahassee, Florida, USA.
The idea for Flip Pick grew out of countless evenings spent playing guitar at home.
Like many players, Tim Roufa learned classical-style guitar before moving into rock and blues, so fingerpicking always felt natural. But the songs he loved most often blended delicate arpeggiated passages with aggressive strumming and flatpicking, creating an awkward tradeoff between playing styles.
One song in particular kept bringing that frustration into focus: Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters.
The contrast between the soft fingerpicked sections and explosive bridge perfectly captured the kind of playing experience Tim wanted as a solo hobby player. He wanted to move naturally between fingerstyle and flatpicking without fumbling for a pick or sacrificing the feel of either technique.
Around that same time, Tim had started experimenting with a new 3D printer, and one simple question led to everything that followed:
“What if there was a way to keep the pick attached to your hand while still allowing natural fingerpicking?”
The first prototypes were rough, fully 3D printed designs made from PLA filament. Some used rings with removable picks attached to small posts and caps. Others experimented with one-piece resin designs. Every version solved part of the problem, but none of them fully captured the feel, flexibility, durability, and articulation they were looking for.
From the very beginning, Jamie Roufa immediately saw the potential in the idea and became deeply involved in shaping the product alongside Tim. While Tim focused heavily on solving the mechanical challenges, Jamie brought a strong instinct for feel, usability, design, and the overall player experience. Together, they pursued patents, worked through countless redesigns, and spent years refining the concept into something that felt less like a gadget and more like a true playing tool.
Rather than rushing a product to market, they chose to keep listening, testing, and improving.
Early testers wanted more flexibility. Different gauges. Better articulation. Greater comfort. Improved durability. Every round of feedback pushed the system closer to what Flip Pick is today: a flexible finger strap paired with interchangeable picks that allows players to transition naturally between fingerstyle and flatpicking while maintaining secure pick control.
Today, Flip Pick remains a family-built product created by real players for real musicians.
It’s not meant to replace traditional guitar playing. It’s simply a tool that helps players retain their pick and move more naturally between playing styles.
Whether you’re a hybrid picker, worship musician, hobby player, beginner, or someone simply looking for a more secure and comfortable way to play, our goal remains the same:
Help players stay focused on the music — not on dropping their pick.
And we’re committed to continuing to improve the system every step of the way.
